Omani Young Sportsperson

The Sultanate celebrates its youth on 26 October of each year, designated by His Majesty the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, as a day for Omani youth. The importance of celebrating Omani Youth Day lies in supporting their energies, and it is an opportunity to highlight their talents and achievements through events and activities. Young people are the nation’s wealth and its essential foundation, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos - may God rest his soul in heaven - stated that young people are always the backbone of any nation and its future. Therefore, they must know their role in different stages; they must first have knowledge and science. It is what strengthens them, sharpens their enthusiasm, and shows them broad horizons in life.

Also, young people should not forget their essential role in developing their societies through different activities that greatly benefit the community. They should be gathered under one umbrella, rejecting everything that leads to division.

In the context of mentioning different activities that young people participate in, Omanspire met with Mazoon Khalfan Al Alawi, 23 years old, who recently participated in the Tokyo 2020 Championship that was held in 2021, in which she achieved sixth place in the 100 meters competition. When she was asked about her passion for athletics, she mentioned that her passion began in 2013. She was trained by a group of Omani and foreign coaches to develop her level; she said coach Clara, who was constantly training her, and the Omani coach Mahmoud Al-Houti. As a result, Mazoon participated in many Gulf, Arab, Asian and international (Olympic) tournaments and won gold, silver, and bronze medals. Mazoon Al-Alawi is only one of many models of the youth in this generous country, who have made regional, Arab and international contributions in many scientific, literary, sports, medical fields, and the list goes on, both of whom excelled in their fields and achieved advanced positions.
