The Royal Opera House Muscat started it’s 2019-2020 season with the famous Carmen; Opera by Georges Bizet, performed by Treatro Colón Buenos Aires. Which will be performed in the following days of September 11th to 14th. Carmen was first performed at the inaugural of the Royal Opera House Muscat as an outstanding commission in the 2011-2012 season.
Opera Carmen is one of the most popular Western Operas of all times due to its innovative realism, it holds a history for many of the unforgettable and broadly recognized songs, it is also considered as an example of opéra-comque, which is a French Opera featuring both spoken dialogue and sung portions. The French composer Georges Bizet, with a libretto in French by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy that first was produced on March, 1875.
This performance is going to be performed again at the ROHM inaugural season with added, improved and brilliant new choreography by the choreographer and dancer Antonio Gades. With one of the greatest performers José Cura, who will sing Don José, A naïve social who is seduced by the schemes of the passionate gypsy Carmen; sung by the charismatic mezzo-soprano Elan Maximove. José then abandons his early years sweetheart and deserts from abandons his military duties. However José looses Carmen’s lose to the allured by the glamours Torero Escamillo played by George Petean. After which José kills Carmen in a jealous fury, a dramatic ending. The opera is going to be conducted by Antonello Allemandi with the excellent performers of Tretro Colón Buenos Aires.
